Japanese Language Teachers' Hub groups

Hub-groups are teachers’ way of creating a net-work or a group of peers they can refer to for questions, shared projects and support. In a way, they are a self-help group, a way proactive teachers meet their professional needs. But in addition, they are an easy meeting point for broader organizations like DECS and the JLTASA to work with.

The different hub-groups operate in different ways, developed to suit the needs of the local members. They are brought together based on geographical proximity, although there is no reason that special-needs group couldn’t also form. Some groups incorporate both primary and secondary teachers; some tend to be mostly primary. Some groups incorporate schools from all three sectors (DECS, Catholic and Independent); others are mostly just DECS schools. Some work to plan local events such as performance days, camps etc; some use the opportunity to share teaching resources and ideas.
